Sound Healer

What happens when you stop trying to fix yourself, and simply listen?

What sound healing is

Not a performance. Not a cure.

A sound bath is time spent lying still inside sound — three gongs, Himalayan and crystal bowls, and a mallet worn smooth.

The sound is slow and layered, so the mind has nothing to follow and eventually stops trying. Most people describe the breath deepening and the body letting go of something it had been holding.

It is not therapy and it is not medicine, and I make no medical claims. It sits alongside whatever else you are doing to look after yourself.

The experience

Lights low. Blankets. The first gong so quiet you are not sure it has started. Sessions run 60 to 90 minutes.

A session

In five movements

  1. iArrival

Shoes off, find a mat. There is tea, and no rush.

  2. iiListening

A few words — where you are today, or what to expect.

  3. iiiSound

Bowls, then gongs, rising and falling. You don’t need to do anything.

  4. ivSilence

The sound stops and the room keeps ringing.

  5. vIntegration

A slow return: sitting up, water, time before you drive.

Who it is for
  • You carry a lot for other people and rarely put it down.

  • Your body is quicker to tell the truth than your words are.

  • You have tried to think your way to rest, and it hasn’t worked.

  • You are simply curious what a gong sounds like from the floor.
